Panama Casco Antiguo
Last night, we got a treat of scenes from La Boheme, the beautiful opera by Giacomo Puccini, at the launching of a real estate event (Viveros Island at the Pearl Islands). It was beautiful, and I learned they are coming to town with the full production in October!
The opera will be playing at the National Theatre from October 11th to the 14th.
According to what I`ve been reading about the opera, it aimed to show scenes of life of bohemians at the Latin Quarter in Paris, around 1830 /40`s. It focuses on the love between the seamstress called Mimì and the poet Rodolfo. Although they fall in love quite soon, Rodolfo tries to leave Mimì later because of her flirtatious behavior. However, Mimì also happens to be mortally ill (wouldn´t be an opera if there wasn´t a dramatic turn somewhere), and Rodolfo feels guilty, since their life together seemed to have worsened her health. They reunite for a brief moment at the end before Mimì dies (again, classic opera!).
A rainbow of emotions, from sweet arias and fun scenes to total drama… only in Casco Viejo!
