Casa Patterson was the first development of La Quince to be delivered. What you may not know, is that the project took a long time to get done. The architect (David Rodríguez) and developer (Grupo Conservatorio) wanted something very specific: they wanted to be able to offer the best affordable apartments to first time home owners. In fact, the quest was to push the envelope, without sacrificing value to the client, quality in the product. Could we sell to a single young professional, even with the multiple constraints imposed by the Casco Viejo codes in terms of construction heights, volumes and techniques? This building could only hold ten units. Could it be done?
It took about 8 years to be able to make it reality. We did it. We sold to young professionals their first homes. Forever our most proud moment was to be able to sell a unit to a young neighbor who grew up living in an unrestored building in San Felipe. But the journey started way back, and we have so many people to thank for the amount of thoughtfullness and commitment put into the dream.
In this video, you´ll meet Arq. David Rodriguez, telling a bit about his story with Casa Patterson. He studied architecture and urbanism in the University of Notre Dame. In the video he talks about the importance of developers in thinking how to “hacer ciudad” , in English could be “recovering cities”, or making cities work.
