A cousin that shares my interest in history sent me these photos of Casco Viejo of the beginning of the Republic. Living in Casco, I really appreciate the things that have changed (restored buildings with nice businesses) and the ones that haven´t as the sense of the neighborhood.
Life back then was probably more difficult as they didn`t have at hand a lot of technological advances such as Wi Fi in Plaza Catedral among other things, but the one powerful heritage from those days was the human scale of the city that allowed a sense of community that became the backdrop of the making of Panama`s Republic.
