Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo
A phone call, a friendship, an amazing event: jazz legend Wynton Marsalis ended up playing at the American Trade Hotel in Casco Viejo after a trip to Venezuela was cancelled.
The famous trumpet player was touring Latin America along with 20 musicians from New York`s Lincoln Center, so he reached out to his old friend (and Grammy Award winner) Danilo Perez to see if he could pass by and support Danilo`s Jazz School in Panama, run by the Danilo Perez Foundation. A workshop was given at Plaza Herrera, and a concert Saturday night at Danilo`s Jazz Bar from the American Trade Hotel. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for all the students from the Foundation, and for all jazz fans in Panama.
