New Hotel in Casco! Welcome La Concordia

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo I love how Casco continues to transform properties that just a few years ago were considered “outside” of the “area”.  Casco continues to evolve, and now it is the turn for our version of the Five Points, meaning the five corners where Central and 11th street meet.  At this time, four out of five corners are active or will be activated in the next few months. This weekend, La Concordia, the most beautiful one opened. We went to celebrate Father´s day and to take a look! here are some photos. Caramelized Apples

The Caramelized Apples, brings me so many memories of my childhood.  I remember seeing them at fairs, at carnivals, it’s like turning the cassette around to see this image.  I was curious to know the origin of this wonderful dessert that made Eve sin and to Snow White fell into the temptation to give a bite and I found  that in 1908 William Kolb produced them in his store in New Jersey and in the ’50s Dan Walker changes a Little the color´s formula to start being called apple with caramel. This sweet enjoyed by generations, part of the … Continue reading

Swan Lake, as a climate change commentary

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Last Thursday, we went to the Prisma Dance Festival performance at the Anita Villalaz Theatre in Casco Viejo.  Two companies. one from Hungary and one from South Korea. Ferenc Feher from Hungary had an interesting concept based on the Tao Te Ching about humans living in harmony. But it was the South Korean troupe that stole the night with Swan Lake, five swans losing their homes due to pollution, dying at the end of exhaustion. Tchaikovsky´s music had the perfect notes for everything: drama and comedy. But the end was done in silence, as it … Continue reading

La Michoacana, Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo   Like nothing I´ve ever seen in Casco before: people literally in a line, trying to get in. That is a first. Just like a really busy restaurant in New York or something like that, La Michoacana has clearly become Casco´s new addiction, at the corner of B Avenue and 8th Street. I haven´t tried their lolly pops, and now I´m scared to try them. Maybe if I do, I will too be making the line every Friday night… My solution is to ask you to go and tell me!
