Las Clementinas Reviewed at La Prensa

Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo, Panama Real Estate at Casco Viejo Aristologa is one of Panama`s toughest restaurant reviewers.  Of course, that is not her real name, as she finds anonymity useful when walking to a restaurant (although I`ll tell you, it is quite difficult to keep secrets in such a small country!!). Last week, Las Clementinas Café  at Casco Viejo (Panama) passed her difficult test.  She loved the coconut milk soup and the sea bass, probably my two favorite dishes.  She liked the hamburger, but thought the cheese was a bit lost in the combination that includes caramelized onions. I … Continue reading

Photos From Last Night`s Art Block at Casco Viejo, Panama

As always, it was quite fun to see the Casco invaded by art and young souls. Here are some shots from last night`s Art Block at Casco Viejo! The night started at Clementinas at their panoramic roof terrace,  but then moved to Plaza Herrera with street dancing in front of Mojitos.  Flamenco dancing at Super G, great jazz at DiVino and DJ`s at La Vecindad and throughout Calle 4ta.  Circus trees walking around to give the surreal touch to the evening. Calle 4ta towards Papiro y Yo had the best “ecological boquitas”, yummy appetizers by chef Joanna and Catriona.   … Continue reading

Save the oceans: eat Lion Fish at Clementinas

Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo, Panama Real Estate and Lifestyle at Panama´s Historic District   Lion Fish is defined by Wikipedia as a venomous marine fish (called Pterois).  A couple of years ago, this plague got into our side of the world by mistake and having no natural predators, this lion looking fish has dedicated itself to “la dolce vita”, eating all sorts of native species and wiping our tropical reefs. Unfortunately, it is now in Panama, and we had the opportunity to see it in San Blas, floating around, looking quite innocent to say the least! However, very few know … Continue reading

Di Vino: Casco Viejo`s first Wine Bar

Casco Viejo Panama Panama Casco Antiguo Nightlife at Panama`s Historic District Oh Boy, oh boy.  Now I`m in trouble. A beautiful wine bar is opening right in front of Arco Properties office at Casco Viejo, Panama.   I confess myself to be a cheese fanatic, and Di Vino (which means “divine” in Spanish, but in Italian means “about wine”) has not only a wonderful ambiance but great cheeses and – of course- wines.  Italian wines, to be more specific, as Di Vino belongs to three good Italian friends (Milan, Rome) and Casco Viejo neighbors: Denis, Jacopo and Francesco. Built with great … Continue reading

Old Panama Style Cafe: Clementinas at Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo Restaurants Restaurantes Casco Antiguo Lifestyle and Real Estate at Panama`s Historic City   “Can you believe this is the street where your nonno lived for the first time when he moved from Ocú to Panama? ” my dad was referring to his own dad, who per my Italian roots we always called Nonno (grandfather in Italian – you see, “abuelo” sounded too old… nonno was cool).   My ballet teacher was looking around and suddenly said: wao! this is next door to the old Dance School! I used to live right there, across this little plaza, but there used … Continue reading

Casco Viejo`s Ocktoberfest

Casco Viejo, San Felipe Casco Antiguo, Panama Lifestyle and Investment   Somehow this year Ocktoberfest was celebrated in September. I guess better weather in Germany! but since in Casco Viejo we have tropical weather all year round, it didn`t matter. Ocktober is Ocktober! So last night, Sajoscha at Callejon del Gato and Cafe Vienna (Calle 1era) celebrated with WeisBier (my favorite) and girls dressed with costumes.  Sajoscha himself dressed up for the occasion! Fun night…

Frit Arte has reopened

For Casqueños, the news that Maria Consuelo Orozco, the owner of Frit Arte, has re-opened is exciting.  The décor has a fresh new look. Regular hours have been extended from noon to 10 pm so we can have our evening belly dancing and yoga classes. In addition to the Executive Menu, Frit Arte is offering a variety of Thai dishes which can be served mild or “picante.”  The staff includes Tatiana, Maritza, Daño and Maná. Clara Keyes Hardin
