Panama Casco Antiguo, Casco Viejo
See phones and locations of every place in this article in ARCO RECOMMENDS. Most of them also have FB pages, so make sure to check them out!
Friday night is the best night to go out in Casco. There is a little bit for everyone, from the gourmet experience to the underground. After dinner, which you can do at any of the many places in Casco (see Arco Recommends for a list of restaurants), most people either start or finish with a beer at Mojitos. If you are lucky, sometimes they have trivia night and it is a blast to go with friends or meet people. If you are into mellow and fun, the other great spot after dinner is the rooftop at Panamericana (Plaza Herrera). Great views! Depending on the night, Casona at Calle 5ta has art shows. If you like more of an underground rock scene, try Onplog at Calle 11, just by La Rana Dorada (really nice artisanal beer). In the same block but on the other side, you`ll find Relic, an underground bar… really under ground, built inside Casco`s historic walls. The new “kid in town” is Casa Nuratti, young and design oriented, right next to Tántalo, which is by now a Friday night icon. The roof top terrace of Barlovento, at Central and 10th has also become a point of reference. A few steps more and you`ll be at Teatro Amador, an event space that always has something new going on.
So go out and explore! if you want to “hit town” on style, don´t forget to bring your Casqueño Card. In a night like this, this card would allow you can go around and enjoy the most without depleting your wallet. How to get it? email director@avaca.org.pa and Jennifer will make sure you get one.
