Saint Malo Festival is Here! Classical Music

Casco Viejo, Panama, Casco Antiguo The Saint Malo Music Festival is one of the favorite events of classical music lovers in Panama.  It was born as a platform to raise the bar in classical music education in Panama, complementing the performance with master classes to young musicians. It is organized by the Fundación Sinfonía Concertante de Panamá and has grown every year. Yesterday was one of the main events at the National Theater, but you can still catch some of their smaller concerts. HERE is their schedule, so you don´t miss it!    

Women Empowerment at Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo, Panama, Casco Antiguo   Last week, Fundacion Calicanto graduated a group of 20 women from Casco Viejo and surrounding areas.  The program they graduated from is called CAPTA (Capacitacion para el Trabajo) which gives them the necessary self esteem and work tools to be able not only to get a job in the hotel industry… but to keep it. Neighborhood Christmas Party builds a future for children in Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo, Panama, Casco Antiguo   On Tuesday, “La Vecindad” was packed with children. Almost 200 kids running around, some jumping literally up and down. The party, which started a couple of years ago, was organized by Idalibeth, a local neighbor and supported by AVACA members. Casco Viejo Community Celebrates Thanksgiving

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Casco Viejo`s Friends and Neighbors Association (AVACA) gathered last night at Casa del Horno to celebrate Thanksgiving. Beautiful Garbage Tanks Flood Casco Viejo, Panama

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Yesterday, under the rain, a group of residents in Casco Antiguo went out “guerrilla style” and distributed 18 beautiful garbage tanks decorated by Panamanian artists.  Like “positive art bombs”, the guerrilla group moved swiftly through A Avenue, in an almost military operation to inject the historic city with fun urban creativity. Holiday Parties in Casco Viejo Strenghten Community Programs

Slideluck Potshow is back!

Casco Viejo, Panama Slideluck Potshow is an art event that joins the community by inviting everyone to  bring a home cooked dish to share and enjoy the art slide show they`ve put together for the occasion. Their first event was two years ago at Arco Chato and was fantastic. This time, the show will be at Espacio Panama on 2nd Street and A Avenue. Los Del Patio`s Wishlist

Casco Antiguo, Panama   Los Del Patio is a small art center in Casco Viejo that provides classes for local children as well as adults. They also have art shows, theater plays and even a small café.
