A Mercadito For Everyone

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Different venues in Casco are starting to have regular mercaditos.  I love how each one is developing its own identity.  I walked into Villa Agustina´s mercadito the other day, and it was exactly Villa Agustina. Incense greeting you as you walk in, inside full boho… with great jazz music!

Eco Gourmet Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo This is the week of surprises! we went to the recently opened Eco Gourmet at Norias in Casco Viejo. Located next to the Escuela de Estados Unidos, this little restaurant explores some overlooked Panamanian ingredients such as nance.  Loved the octopus, the lamb and the salmon with the passion fruit and nance sauce. Santa Rita restaurant in Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo When you live in Casco you are constantly exploring new places.  Last Friday, we went to Santa Rita, Casa Panama´s groundfloor restaurant. A super warm welcome by the manager, her recommendations were really good. They have Spanish cuisine, from the famous callos to nice octopus carpaccio. Tacos La Neta, at Calle 3era Casco Viejo

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Located at Calle 3era and Central, next to the National Theater. You have to try the taquitos, they are great. The secret? this is not a simple taco place, this is chef´s Maito newest enterprise.  It is a great place to meet with your friends, play pool or ping pong, grab a beer and eat some amazingly wonderful taquitos.

Salsipuedes film features Casco Viejo

Panamá, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Last night, Teatro Balboa was packed. The movie showing was the Panamanian movie Salsipuedes, almost entirely shot in Casco Viejo (Yes, there were some airport shots we didn´t get! ). The story was well put together, and the casting included children from the neighborhood, incredible talent! I didn´t realize how incredibly diverse Casco was for a film maker: the beach, plazas, old buildings, new buildings, rural look, city look, you can cut and paste depending on what you want to achive. ELS Language Center Inauguration

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Wednesday we went to the inauguration of Casco Viejo´s new language school: ELS. Located at Calle 5ta, it has a nice combination that will allow students to stay there, go to class and enjoy Casco very easily. Good luck to ELS and welcome to Casco! Info:  

Film Festival starts this week!

EPA Language School opens in Casco Viejo

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo This week, EPA! & ELS Language School opens in Casco Viejo. “Español en Panamá” is located at Calle 5ta, near Madrigal restaurant.
