Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo, Panama
Lifestyle and Real Estate at Panama`s Historic City
Panama`s old tram used to roam Casco Viejo until the early 40`s. Back then, it connected Panama City and the Canal Zone up to what is still known as “La Boca”. Although there has been an effort to bring the trolley back, Monica Salazar from “Viajes y Destinos” , a travel agency in Panama City, just couldn´t wait and decided to offer it as a tour.
First they included Panama Viejo, Casco Viejo and the Panama Canal. However, demand within Casco Viejo grew, as there are so many important historic landmarks that tourist would like to visit in comfort. So here it is!!! as per this week, the Tranviatour is 100% at Casco Viejo! Still, if you would like to add Panama Viejo and the Canal you can do it, just contact Monica.
How does it work in Casco Viejo? Day passes are $5. The tram provides with a tour guide which will be able to talk to you about Casco Viejo and the historic landmarks you are visiting. Because the TranviaTour will have a specific circuit, tourists will be able to jump in and out as many times they want during the day. This will give them time to spend at each landmark with a local guide and still be able to take the next ride.
Here is the route, which will probably be modified as new landmarks are in. Although the map doesn´t show it, the tour includes the Fish Market!. If you would like more information about the tram and other tours please write Monica at: gerencia@viajesydestinos.com.pa
