And right on time to celebrate the 500 years of the first catholic church in the New World. It was a whole thing to put them up there: street closed, big cranes, take a look! Absolutely a historic moment at La Merced church. Consider that the first bells lasted basically 800 years (they were already old when they came! I figure they didn´t want to “pack” new bells for such a dangerous journey!). Wonder if the new ones will last that much. Let`s keep count, and if they don´t by year 500, let`s ask our money back!
