Danilo Perez just doesn`t stop. He just released his latest album “Providence” a week or two ago, and now he is in Panama announcing his next Panama Jazz Festival 2011. The festival is widely known for its quality, and on its 8th it will have wonderful artists coming such as Conrad Herwig , Cristina Acuña`s Quartet, Brian Lynch, Harlem String Quartet , La Coma Flamenco,Adam Cruz, Ben Street,Rudresh Mahantappa and more .
The festival will be running from January 10th to the 15th and will have its traditional outdoor concert at Plaza Catedral in San Felipe, Casco Viejo.
Last year, the festival gathered about 20,000 people through its week of performances. But its real achievement is in the educational side. The Fundacion Danilo Perez, located at Plaza Herrera in Casco Viejo, teaches music to talented kids from Panama`s poorest areas and open the doors to international schools such as Berkley Music Conservatory. the Jazz Festival acts as a platform where international schools can spot the best of the best and offer scholarships. On its 8th edition, the Panama Jazz Festival will have representatives of Berklee Global Jazz Institute, New England Conservatory, Paris Conservatory and the Fundacion Tonica de Mexico who has a similar project in their country.
