Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo
Jane Jacobs was an activist that back in the 60´s opposed big projects like highways that would divide and destroy the fabric of small, walkable, neighborhoods. Even though she had no formal trainning as an urbanist, she had common sense. She empowered people and saved areas that today wouldn´t exist without her leadership: places like Soho and others.
This Saturday, May 23rd, the city of Panama will be carrying out what has been known as Jane´s Walks. We are very excited that the City has started to take this approach. The tour will start at Plaza 5 de Mayo, and the guides will tell stories of the most important buildings in Central Avenue. The idea is to re connect with your urban surroundings, learning about them, by simply walking around.
Where: Plaza 5 Mayo
When: May 23rd, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
