Casco Antiguo, Panama
A client came into our office yesterday and marveled at the thriving activity in Casco Viejo. He pointed out that there are almost no streets in San Felipe that doesn`t have something going on, whether a new business opening or a property under construction. Plaza Herrera, one of the biggest and most beautiful plazas which was abandoned up until now, is a vibrant “under construction” site. Located at the center of Casco Antiguo is is destined to become its commercial heart.
Here are some of the commercial projects currently under construction. By no means a complete list!
The original Hotel Herrera, this beautiful property is now being restored. The property will have less than 20 rooms and a micro brewery at the groundfloor. Fun!
Corner restaurant site under construction. The building will have two commercial spaces set up for restaurants: groundfloor with mezzanine and top floor with an amazing terrace.
American Trade Hotel: a four building restoration project that will hold an elegant 50 room hotel with restaurant, jazz bar and Casco Viejo`s first “convention center”.
The event space will have capacity to host events up to 800 people. A perfect place for weddings and banquets.
La Cantina, also under construction, will be a three level restaurant at the entrance of San Felipe. Water views, outdoor and indoor seating. Roof terrace too!
Ay! Carmela is a restaurant located at 9th Street, San Felipe that opened August 2nd. Wonderful sandwiches, the place has a friendly ambiance with outdoors and indoor seating.
Casa del Horno inaugurated also this week (officially!). The hotel has 8 rooms, a restaurant and a café. Located at B Avenue and 8th street.
