Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo
The golden frog is not only a Panamanian icon but also a delicate specie that exists nowhere else in the world. It lives in an area called the Anton Valley, but alarms went up by the scientist community two years ago that it is under threat of extinction.
In order to save it, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, along side with local naturalists and conservationists work on general public awareness and specific programs. One of this initiatives, the Golden Frog Festival, has become a popular fundraising event: fun and meaningful.
We would like to invite everyone to participate of this event. It will be in several places, but if you are in Casco, check out the event at La Rana Dorada Brewery (in front of Parque V Centenario) on August 15th. Scientists Richard Cooke and Angie Estrada will be giving interesting talks and all the proceeds will go to the rescue of these little and unique friends!
