New Year, new menu at Las Clementinas in Casco Viejo! I haven´t tried everything yet, but so far I`m impressed. We had a good lunch this past weekend, and it was so nice I took photos of everyone`s dishes and my fork somehow ended on everyone’s plate…
For starters, we ordered a “picadillo de mariscos” which was a perfect appetizer as we were a party of five.
If you are a “soup person” like me, you`ll like the crema de zapallo (squash creme). It has a delicate lime flavor that makes you want to lick the plate. After that, I had the fig salad with goat cheese and fresh hearts of palms that went beautifully with Benavides wine. The Benavides is a sweet wine, almost like a Riesling wine so it is great with desserts and with fig plus goat cheese salads. Actually, it went well with everything we ordered that day!
Next to me, my friend had the mango and chicken salad, and on my other side the langostino with Parmegian. The robalo was also excellent, and the jumbo langostinos with octopus sauce and baby watercress was dramatic.
A perfect closing for our lunch were three light desserts: a strawberry cheesecake (just to see the photo melts my mouth), the gingerbread and icecream (with carrot sauce) and the marshmallow with icecream and sour sauce that gave it a surprising but delightful twist.
