A new space for Art opens in Casco Antiguo

On March 12, Panamanian art history reached a new milestone with the grand opening of a new exhibition space at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama (MAC).

Located in the historic San Juan de Dios building in Casco Antiguo, this new exhibition room—Sala Satélite—showcases local talent and provides a gathering place for art enthusiasts to connect and foster a sense of community.

The inauguration of this space reinforces MAC’s role as a guardian of Panama’s cultural heritage and as a platform for emerging artists. By bridging the past, present, and future through art, the museum continues to expand access to culture and creativity across the country.

60+1: The Small Big Museum of Ancón

Sala Satélite debuts in this new space with the exhibition “60+1: El Pequeño gran Museo de Ancón,” offering visitors an exciting journey through Panama’s rich art history, revisiting six decades of artistic evolution.

The exhibition’s title pays homage to the museum’s more than 60 years since its doors first opened. Carefully curated, it brings together joy, nostalgia, and emotion through the works of renowned artists such as Rodolfo Abularach, Nancy Friedemann, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa, Marc Vives, Ana Lasso, and many more.

If you want to experience this remarkable exhibition and explore the many works on display, visit the San Juan de Dios building or stop by Avenida B and 9th Street.
