A night full of music and art

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Last night, Casco Viejo was full of great activities! free concerts at Plaza Catedral and Plaza V Centenario for completely different reasons: the celebration of Panama´s Red Cross 100 years and the celebration of Great! Britain´s week.  Panama is now sister city with Liverpool, so the event included a movie and music by the Beatles. Amazing cocktails! The Red Cross event had its own celebrities: the family of Lady Mallet, who founded Red Cross in Panama assisted. There is even a building in Casco called Casa Mallet, as per its original owner. Pop up Movie Theatre in Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo A mini movie theatre in Casco Viejo!   Arte Nómada and Cine Animal  transformed La Vecindad in a pop up mini cinema. This week, they opened with three short films by Panamanian artists and the place was packed. The films had fashion as a common theme, but they were all very different: from sci fi to abstract. Salsipuedes film features Casco Viejo

Panamá, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Last night, Teatro Balboa was packed. The movie showing was the Panamanian movie Salsipuedes, almost entirely shot in Casco Viejo (Yes, there were some airport shots we didn´t get! ). The story was well put together, and the casting included children from the neighborhood, incredible talent! I didn´t realize how incredibly diverse Casco was for a film maker: the beach, plazas, old buildings, new buildings, rural look, city look, you can cut and paste depending on what you want to achive.
