Paddle Race starting at Casco Viejo this weekend

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo I love how the beach is getting used more and more for wonderful activities! This time by CREBA (Club de Remos de Balboa/ Balboa´s Rowing Club), which is the organization that year after year organizes the famous Cayuco Race. This race will start at Santo Domingo Beach in Casco Viejo (enter by Third Street) and will be “stand up paddle”, for all levels: amateur to pro. Starting early! 7:30 a.m.  To participate is $10, and they are fundraising for Hearts Cry Children Ministry Foundation.

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo There are always so many different things that you can be part of in this neighborhood.  Take this week, for example: yesterday, a chess tournament at Plaza Catedral.  Walk any night by Plaza Herrera around 7 p.m., and you´ll see children (and young adults!!!) playing “Calle 7”, a popular TV show with the classic obstacle race. Casa Sucre 3rd Anniversary in Casco Viejo!

Chef Felipe Milanés opens restaurant in Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo After working for years in restaurants and TV Shows in the States, and travelling everywhere from Iceland to Dubai, chef Felipe Milanés returns to Panama to open a restaurant at 12th Street and A Avenue in Casco Viejo. Danilo Perez awarded at Universidad de Panama

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Last night, musician and grammy award winner Danilo Perez was awarded at Universidad de Panama with an Honoris Causa degree to celebrate his prolific career and beautiful achievements.  La Prensa published a note, where Danilo is quoted: “stop thinking of art as a simple ornament to public life”.  Danilo, who has made his life about how to provoke social change through music, has also been an advocate of music as a path to inner truth,  team work and cultural change. Beautiful day at the Panama Jazz Festival

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo It was a beautiful day at the Panama Jazz Festival concert this past weekend. We had a wonderful time. Music was amazing.  We were at Ciudad del Saber, surrounded by Casqueños! =) Loved the back section where El Cuarto Rojo was giving circus classes to kids.  I was starving, so bought a tamal de olla at the Sabores de mi Barrio (from Casco) section. Could have eaten two…  

Panama Jazz Fest is Here! 2016

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Panama Jazz Festival is here! inauguration will be at City of Knowledge tonight, and I´ll have the honor of being the MC for the night! Exciting! Also, the whole week will have great shows at the Danilo Jazz Club in Casco Viejo. And, of course, the already famous concert on Sunday at Ciudad del Saber. Casco Yoga Opens!

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo New Year, new resolutions! I´m a yoga fan, and after the celebrations I was in desperate need of a good yoga class and stretch. Lucky me, Casco has now a full time yoga studio.
