Old school children games at Casco Viejo, Panama

Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Real Estate and Lifestyle at Panama`s Historic City   Last night we were walking our dog nearby Las Clementinas at Casco Viejo when I heard laughter rising louder and louder.  Chispa, who loooovesss children, started pulling me like crazy towards the small placita (Plaza Arango) and there they were: bunch of kids playing as kids used to play! Somehow nostalgia took over when I saw them all cramped up at the flag pole trying to climb on each other to see how many could fit at the same time in such small space.  They kept falling … Continue reading

Casco Viejo nightlife welcomes La Vecindad

Casco Viejo – Panama – Casco Antiguo Real Estate For Sale, For Rent at Panama City`s Historic District   Last week was a hectic one! the opening of Los del Patio and several other events had us going out a lot.  One of the best discoveries of last week was “La Vecindad”, Casco Viejo`s new bar and hangout place at Avenida A, right in front of the Art Deco building between Calle 4ta and 5ta, and next to Bohemios. Run by Nico and Idalibeth from the ex gang in Calle 4ta,  La Vecindad is located in an unrestored building.  Walking … Continue reading

Art Celebration at Casco Viejo: Los Del Patio

Panama Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Rentals, Sales, Real Estate at Panama`s Historic District   Last night we went to Yiyi Ibarra`s inauguration of “Los Del Patio”. Casconians gathered at Calle 3era at San Felipe, Casco Viejo, and had a great time enjoying the theatre play by Teatro Lagartija and wandering around the Los Del Patio Cafe, the art classrooms for children, the painting studio and their small Los Del Patio Store.  This is an interesting place that will bring a lot to our Casco Viejo… congratulations Yiyi and Teatro Lagartija!

00-10: Panama`s Art through the first 10 years of XXI century

Panama – Casco Viejo – Casco Antiguo Real Estate For Sale, For Rent At Panama`s Historic City   Yesterday, Panama`s artistic community gathered at the Contemporary Art Museum to check out the art show “00-10: Cuenta Progresiva – Art during Panama`s first decade of the XXI Century”. An interesting compilation made by Reinier Rodríguez, an architect and Casconian. The show was well put together and it starts an important conversation in Panama`s artistic circles  about who/ what is/ was relevant on this first decade.  It featured several artists, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Casco Viejo lovers (alias … Continue reading

Los Del Patio in Casco Viejo

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Real Estate For Sale, For Rent at Panama`s Historic City   When you say you are from “el patio” in Panama (which literally means from the “backyard”) you are saying you are a local.  “Los Del Patio” is a theatre and dance space that is just opening (formally, since they`ve already started theatre courses for kids ) at Calle 3era, next to the National Theatre at Panama`s 338 year old Colonial City (Casco Viejo). Their debut is tonight, and will feature an art show by Donna Conlon and Jonathan Harker. The show is called “Videogames”. … Continue reading

Casco Viejo`s 338th Anniversary!

Panama, Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo Real Estate at Panama`s Historic City   Yesterday, the Oficina del Casco Antiguo started a series of activities to celebrate the 338th Anniversary of Casco Viejo.  For those already tuned into our beloved historic city,  its history will be familiar:  back in 1671 the first settlers of what is now called “Old Panama” decided to move out of their site (located in a swamp, basically) to a more healthy area (rocky point! ) that had crossed wind ventilation and less mosquitoes.  There is an endless discussion on whether the last attack of pirate Morgan was … Continue reading

Panama Jazz Fest Concert at Casco Viejo

Panama – Casco Viejo – Casco Antiguo Plaza Catedral Real Estate and Lifestyle at Panama`s Historic City   Rain! nooooooooooo…… People were prepared, though: everyone took their umbrellas out and scouted the sky to see if this was going to last. Classic Panamanian prediction:  “Nah… it will be gone in an hour or less. Good that it happened early”.  And so it happened: rained came and left, but the concert started on time at 12 noon and little by little Plaza Catedral at Casco Viejo started to get people in.  I was staged at a friend`s apartment (thank you Luis!!!! … Continue reading

Panama Jazz Fest First Gala

Casco Viejo – Panama – Casco Antiguo Real Estate and Lifestyle at Panama`s Historic City   Last night was the inauguration of the Panama Jazz Festival at the National Theatre in Casco Viejo, Panama.  I was lucky to be backstage and enjoy the great music and musicians! this photo is from part of their rehearsal an hour or so before opening curtains. My favorite last night was the Harlem String Quartet.  I noticed that, while with a dancer or an actor you can forever wonder whether they are the same on stage (or film) as in real life (and there … Continue reading
